The challenge
Back-office teams retype the same fields from invoices, forms and delivery notes into the same systems every day. It is slow, it is error-prone, and it is the kind of work that quietly caps how much a business can take on.
Our approach
A concept study in automation that admits uncertainty. The pipeline extracts what it is confident about and routes the rest to a person, with the document and the extracted field side by side — because an automation that silently guesses is a liability, and one that asks for help on the hard 10% is an asset.
The constraints
Extraction is never fully reliable, and pretending otherwise is how automation projects fail. The constraint was that the system must never silently guess: anything below its confidence threshold has to reach a person, with the source document beside it.
What we built
- Intake from email, upload and watched folders into one queue
- OCR and structured extraction with a confidence score on every field
- A review surface pairing the source document with the extracted values
- Rule-based routing to the right system or approver once a document clears review
- Full processing history, so any figure can be traced back to its document
